Tips for successful planting

Place any decorative sculptures or wood in the tank before adding compost or plants to help you visualize the look you wish to achieve.

Choose the sculptures and other decorations according to your animal’s nature and needs. Be mindful of the space between the sculpture and the lighting.

Once the compost is correctly moistened add it around your sculptures to hold them firmly in place, unusual shaped pieces may need additional wire supports hidden under the compost.

Firm the compost into place, a change in levels can be more interesting than a completely flat layer.

Foliage and smaller plants should be used for foreground, background, and ground cover.

Higher, feature plants can be used to create a focal point within the EARTH or as background. The size they will grow to should be considered.

Allow room for growth and access to clean the inside of the unit.

Please research individual plant requirements.

Rehoming a Pet

Big or small, furry or scaly... We all love our pets like family. But sometimes circumstances arise, and we're left with no other choice but to find them a new place to live. For the health and safety of your pet and our native wildlife, releasing animals into the wild is never OK. Most pets released into the wild do not survive. If your pet survives, it can become an invasive species that can harm the environment and the economy. If you can no longer care for your pet, visit our Responsible Pet Ownership page for ideas.

Routine Maintenance

The biOrb EARTH automatically controls every aspect of its habitat, so your plants and animals thrive. From time to time you will need to perform routine maintenance to help keep your EARTH clean.

The EARTH app can send you reminders for specific maintenance tasks, so you don’t forget. Be sure to turn on notifications.

Daily monitoring of plant and animal health is very important. Trim plants when appropriate and remove any debris. Perform the appropriate feeding of your animals.

On a weekly basis, check the water levels.

Every three months you should replace the back carbon filters.

Every six months you should replace the top carbon filters.

If you need to clean the inside of the EARTH, be sure to use acrylic safe cloths like Polish and Cloth Accessory or Cleaning Pads. You should only use biOrb HumidiMist to clean the inside of the EARTH. Simply spray the inside of the EARTH with HumidiMist and then use the micro-fiber cloth to clean.
