Designed for Your biOrb
biOrb aquarium media isn’t just filler, it’s part of the system. From oxygen-rich bubbles to biological filtration, every element is connected. That’s why we only recommend our approved ceramic or pearl media, never sand or fine gravel.
What’s the Difference? Ceramic vs. Pearl Media
Feature | Ceramic | Pearl |
---|---|---|
Best For | Most setups | Betta tanks |
Texture | Rough & porous | Smooth & soft |
Purpose | High surface area for beneficial bacteria | Gentle on sensitive fins & area for beneficial bacteria |
Why the Right Media Matters
Your biOrb’s unique filtration system starts from the bottom—literally. That’s where our ceramic and pearl bio-media come in. These specially designed media pieces provide the surface area needed for beneficial bacteria to grow, which helps break down fish waste and keep your water clear.
✔ Keeps your water cleaner for longer
✔ Protects your air system from clogs
✔ Creates a healthy foundation for aquatic life
Not all substrates work the same. Using anything smaller than biOrb’s recommended media can block airflow, reduce filtration efficiency, and make the bubble tube harder to remove.
How to Use Your Media

Rinse thoroughly before use
Hold under cool running water for a few minutes to remove dust.

Remove pieces smaller than 5mm
Anything too small can clog the air tube and reduce airflow.

Do not use sand or fine gravel
These can block filtration and damage the air system.

Let it do its thing
Once placed, leave your media undisturbed while it grows good bacteria.
