So far, so good. Just

"So far, so good. Just switched from the original media (rough texture) to this for my Tube 35. This seems to be a much better media choice, I just wish BiOrb would offer it as an alternative when you order a whole kit. My Cory’s seem to appreciate a better surface to forage as the other was quite rough. These don’t appear natural looking like the other media, but the BiOrb is contemporary so they look fine. The change over was a major new water/system change for my fish, but they seemed to do fine with the switchover and beneficial bacteria supplement added. Water parameters have been fine for a week on an uncycled aquarium."

I was recommended to purchase

"I was recommended to purchase these pearls particularly as I plan to have a Betta in my tank. They are much less dusty and much easier to rinse than the standard media that comes with the aquarium kit."

Love them.

"Much easier on my bettas and all you have to do is rinse. No more shifting through to take out the small pieces. Like the look too. I won’t be changing back."

Q&A

Do I rinse off the pearl media before putting it in the tank? And does the bubble tube filter need to stay exposed or can that be covered as well?
Hello Tracey. You would rinse all media lightly with fresh, dechlorinated water before adding it to the tank. This removes any dust from shipping and helps prevent cloudiness. You can cover the base or lower portion with media or décor for aesthetics, but do not bury or block the intake or outlet openings. We hope this helps!
Hi, I have a Halo 30L with your ceramic media and want to change to your pearl substrate. How can I safely do that without harming my Betta? I can imagine just straight up replacing it all outright would lead to disaster? Thanks so much!
Hello Candice. When changing your media, carefully only replace one third of your media at a time. Wait at least a month before replacing anymore. This information is also in the images above. We hope this helps!
How often is is recommended to change the media?
Hello Mel. It is important to change the media for aquariums at least once a year to prevent the build-up of harmful toxins such as ammonia and nitrite. The frequency of changing substrate depends on factors such as the type of media, number of fish in the tank, and tank size. When doing this, only replace one third of your media at a time. Wait at least a month before replacing anymore. We hope this helps!
